Year of project: 2019
Project specification:
When Go North East generously donated one of their single decker buses to The Oaks Secondary School they needed a specialist furniture manufacturer to turn the interior into an innovative learning environment to improve literacy skills for students with special educational needs.
Ambic manufactured bespoke bookcases, tables and storage to fit perfectly into the adapted spaces. We worked closely with the staff in the design of all the furniture to ensure it met the special requirements of the pupils.
English teacher Sarah Swales said “I realised if we wanted to really take literacy seriously and help our students, our tiny, bland library wasn’t going to do it. The idea for the bus snowballed from there and it’s turned out better than I ‘d hoped. “
Why did the client choose Ambic?: Ambic specialise in making bespoke robust furniture to fit into challenging or unusual spaces.
Outcome: The project was delivered on time and within budget and received very positive feedback from staff and pupils alike.
