PROJECT
The Sage, Gateshead

Year of project: 2020

Timescale of project: 3 phases of 2-3 weeks each site

Project specification: The Sage is an internationally renowned music centre with strong roots in the north east of England – the clients requested work to be undertaken in several distinct areas:

      • A large bespoke curved corian cafeteria serving area with matching curved overhead ceiling mounted steel gantry. Both features comprise a compound curve shape with decreasing ratio which increased the complexity of the design and the build.
      • A traditional style bar with two matching mobile bars with concealed castors and rigid metal skeleton to enable them to be moved and deployed in different areas within the building in response to additional demand or specific events.
      • A large box office desk with overhead steel gantry to support the mounting of large media screens. The worktop is made from ColourCode© solid grade laminate to withstand the rigours of heavy use. This impressive feature is enhanced by the stained ash vertical slats that make up the public facing facia.
      • A back office area behind the box office with curved work surface and matching cabinetry.

Why did the client choose Ambic?:  Ambic were the only company that could complete all the work in-house.

Outcome: The project was completed ahead of schedule despite delays which prevented our team from starting work on the site
